Lemoore, Kings County
Lemoore is named for Lovern Lee Moore, a physician who laid out the town in 1871, and it incorporated on July 4, 1900. Naval Air Station Lemoore opened west of town in 1961 and is the home base for the Navy strike fighter squadrons of the Pacific Fleet. Cotton, tomatoes and dairies fill the surrounding countryside of Kings County.
